The Tetris Effect

The Tetris effect….

We all know someone who is stuck in some form of the Tetris effect, and maybe it’s you. They are the person who is often negative, who walks in the room and instantly starts scanning the room for something to complain about. Their brains have been honed and wired to do so for years.

Luckily, according to physiatrist Shawn Achor, author of the “Happiness project”, we can retrain our brains to think positive. He states, “We can retrain our brain to scan for good things in life- to help us see more possibility, to feel more energy, and to succeed at higher levels.”

Happiness is hard work, it requires us to train like an athlete trains his body. Here are 4 tips to help you put this in to practice-

1) Exercise

2) Write down 3 daily positives at the end of each day and write them down

3) Practice mindfulness- Be in the present without judgment.

4) Do something nice for someone else!
